Woman Dies During Few Days at Erie County Holding Center

New York State has launched an investigation after a woman died after being in Erie County Holding Center for only a few days. India Cummings, 27, had been brought to the holding center after multiple felony charges had been brought against her throughout Western New York and she was released on her own recognizance before she died at Buffalo General. According to Channel 2:

The spokesman said Cummings was under the care of the county health department and mental health department at the time of her death but she was no longer in the custody of the sheriff's office.
