ANOTHER Round Of FREE Money Coming from New York State
There is big news for New York residents as Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that a massive amount of money will be distributed to qualifying households later this year. Millions of New Yorkers could receive direct payments, with most homeowners eligible for up to $600 and some households receiving as much as $1,500.
For many families, that extra money could arrive at the perfect time—just as summer spending winds down and back-to-school expenses begin to pile up.
Summer Spending Can Add Up Quickly
Summer is just about here in New York State. Many schools have wrapped up classes and students are preparing for final exams before enjoying a well-deserved break.
What are your plans this summer? Have gas prices and the rising cost of everyday items changed your vacation plans for 2026? Or are you planning a road trip to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, either here in the Empire State or somewhere across the country?
No matter how you choose to spend the summer, there may be some good news waiting for you if your budget gets stretched a little further than expected.

Families Across New York Are Looking for Affordable Summer Fun
Like many families, we have plans for summer camps and activities for our kids. As much as we enjoy spending time together, summer can sometimes feel like it lasts forever, just as Bryan Adams sang in “Summer of ’69.”
For parents, finding ways to keep kids entertained can be a challenge, especially when those familiar words start coming out: “I’m bored.”
The good news is that New York State offers countless adventures for families during the summer months. From parks and beaches to hiking trails, festivals, and community events, there are plenty of opportunities to make memories without spending a fortune.
How To Apply for New York’s Tax Relief Program
As New Yorkers prepare for summer vacation and look ahead to Independence Day celebrations, there is also something to look forward to later this year.
"Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that nearly three million New Yorkers across the state will receive over $2 billion in tax relief this summer and fall through New York's School Tax Relief (STAR) program. STAR provides property tax relief to eligible homeowners and seniors statewide".
If you believe you qualify for the tax relief program, New York State has created a simple and convenient online application process. Eligible residents can check their status, apply if necessary, and even choose to receive their payment through direct deposit.
That means the money could be deposited directly into your checking account this fall.
More Than 3 Million New Yorkers Could Benefit
Enjoy the summer and take advantage of everything New York State has to offer. Whether you’re traveling, attending local events, or simply spending time with family and friends, there is plenty to celebrate.
And if you’re one of the more than 3 million New Yorkers expected to receive tax relief this fall, you’ll have one more reason to smile when summer comes to an end.
