The first snow band of 2022 hit Western New York, causing the skyway to temporarily close and people who needed to travel to improvise in unique ways.

The snow started to come down around 6 a.m. on Thursday, and by early afternoon, Buffalo had already picked up over 14 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

When you think back to the Snowvember storm of 2014, you may think that 14 inches of snow is nothing – at least, if you grew up in Western New York.

I asked one snow plow truck driver what he would rate this snowstorm “on a scale of 1 to Snowvember,” and he rated the storm “a 3!”

Whether the snowstorm is a 1, a 3, or a repeat of Snowvember, there are at least 8 winter staples you will see, without fail, when you spend the season in Buffalo.
