There really is no way to payback our Veterans and Heroes for their sacrifices that they have made. For those who have served and returned home, there may be wounds that are visible and those which can't be seen. Even for those that return home unscathed after active duty, there are struggles that they may need a little help to overcome.

On Friday night, I was honored to be the MC for the annual Red, White and Blues Gala to benefit WNY Heroes Inc.

I think the keynote speaker, Tommy Rieman said it best..."sometimes we need a hand up..not a handout." WNY Heroes' mission is to do just that. Give Veterans the things they need to get back on their feet. Often it is financial. Sometimes it is medical and quite often there are Veterans that need help with mental health issues that are related to coming home after active duty/combat.

Many Veterans are coping with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and need the community's support as well as the support of organizations like WNY Heroes to guide them along.

After hearing Tommy's story and realizing that there are many others out there who need "a hand up," I am even more proud of our partnership with WNY Heroes.
