There is a dangerous heat alert that has been issued for portions of New York State as we get ready for the first weekend of August.

This weekend may be the busiest yet as there are more concerts, rodeos, festivals and county fairs than ever. We are seeing crowds show up for events in bigger numbers than before the COVID-19 pandemic. Officials are reminding us to be smart and be ready for the heat.

The National Weather Service calling for temperatures to skyrocket this weekend!

According to reports, The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory from noon today through seven p-m this evening. It is predicted that heat index values might be between 90 and 100 degrees in multiple spots.

This is the same weather that some of Central New York saw on Thursday.

As far as last month, it was very hot! The National Weather Service released the final stats for the end of July.

The best thing you can do is rest and find shade and hydrate! The heat is expected to subside in the next few days.
