The COVID-19 vaccine is available in New York State to people aged 50 and older and the biggest complaint seems to be the difficulty people are having getting an appointment. It seems that as soon as you log on, the appointments have been filled. There is good news today for those who reside in or near Allegany County.

According to a report, officials in Allegany County says there's more COVID-19 vaccine available than usual for folks eligible to get their shots. The county received three-thousand doses this week and will be distributing them during clinics in Wellsville that start today and go through Sunday.

If you determine that you are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine please do not forget to bring proof or identification with you to the clinic (driver’s license, employment badge, letter from your employer, etc.).

The weather over the last few days has gotten pretty warm and it sure is great to see people out and enjoying the sunshine! This has to help to keep the COVID infection rate from going up. So long as social distancing and masks are still used.

If you have any questions about the vaccine or how to schedule your appointment in Allegany County, please contact the Allegany County Department of Health at (585) 268-9250.
