Many thought that they will get an extra social security payment in the month of may from the government. This is not the case. There is no bonus payment, even though some have said it on social media earlier this month.

There is a schedule of when people will get their social security check and it is based on their birthday. But, for supplemental social security, the deposit is made on the 1st of every month. If the 1st of the month falls on a weekend, the government will move your deposit up.

The limit was increased in the beginning of 2024. It can vary depending on your situation, but the maximum amount that you can get from the government went from $914 in 2023 to $943 in 2024. The maximum amount for filing couples went from $1,371 to $1,415.

In this case, June 1, 2024 falls on a Saturday, so if you get supplemental social security, your check or deposit will be coming on May 31 this year which is a Friday. So, you will get another payment in the month of May, but note this is not an EXTRA BONUS payment because it is simply for the month of June.

In fact, your payments for the month of August and September will be paid out a few days earlier as well this year.
