Aunt Jemima Recalls Several Frozen Breakfast Items Due to Possible Listeria Contamination

Aunt Jemima is voluntarily recalling some of its breakfast items due to possible listeria contamination. The items recalled are all “Best By” dates of Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes, Frozen Waffles & Frozen French Toast Slices because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

No illnesses have been reported but they are recalling the items to be safe after  testing indicated the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the plant environment. They are working with the FDA through the process.

According to the FDA,

"Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women."

The recall only applies to the Aunt Jemima frozen products and does not include any dry mixes and syrups.

All ‘Best By’ dates of the following products are included in this recall:

2 additional items are being recalled in conjunction with the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA).
