Nor’easter Snowstorm This Week For New York State

Don’t look now but the official start of summer is only two months away. In fact, we’re already a full month into spring here in New York State. Don’t tell that to Mother Nature, however, because clearly she still has a few tricks up her sleeve.

The past three and a half months have been downright awful for weather, outside of two or three gorgeous 60+ degree days. Winter has held on longer than usual this year and unfortunately, we are not done yet with snow.

Some bitterly cold temperatures and a coating of snow for many in Western and Central New York for Easter morning, but more snow, rain and wind is on the way.

According to AccuWeather, a snowstorm is coming to New York State as a Nor’Easter will impact New York, Pennsylvania and much of the northeast from Monday night into Tuesday.

Most parts of the state should see 1-3 inches, while some in central and downstate could see 3-6 inches of snow; others near Saranac Lake could see 6-12 inches of snow.

Those near Albany could see a few inches of snow, while 6-8 inches is expected to fall in Old Forge, according to the National Weather Service.

Here in the Western New York region, an inch or two is expected around Buffalo with slightly greater totals for accumulation in the southern tier and higher terrain.

Heavy winds will be a part of this storm system as well.

There have technically been worse winters on record than 2022 and while snow is not uncommon for April, it’s the fact that the cold and consistent snow has stuck with us longer than normal. There really has not been a break for the duration of 2022.
