Bills Make Surprise In-Division Trade With The New York Jets
It's cutdown day for teams all across the NFL. But today, the Bills added to their team in a rare trade with a division rival.
It's not often that teams are willing to make trades within their own division. Brandon Beane has shown that it makes no difference to him who he's making a trade with as long as he believes that the trade will make the Bills a better team. He proved it when he made a trade in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft with the Kansas City Chiefs.
It is a move that has surprised a lot of Bills fans. Many of them assumed that Daequan Hardy had won the return job after hearing the news that the Bills had cut KJ Hamler. This move seems to show that he hasn't necessarily locked that up.
Codrington has plenty of long punt and kick returns on tape after being brought in for those jobs. He was able to log a 63-yard kick return and a 31-yard punt return in one game this preseason.
The Bills ended up just giving up late round 2026 draft picks to snag him from the Jets.
