For many of us when we were younger, meeting our crew at the local mall was the ultimate weekend activity.

With a soft pretzel in one hand and an Orange Julius in the other, we schlepped our shopping bags from store to store, searching for our next great brag-worthy find. Even though it was easy to blow our entire month’s allowance in just a few hours, it was worth it for the rush of showing off our mall haul to our friends at school on Monday.

Now, with the ability to order anything we want online and have it delivered right to our door, trips to our favorite shopping mall are few and far between– and unfortunately, it’s affected many of our favorite retailers from back in the day.

Several Popular Retailers Have Closed Throughout The U.S. & Canada

Post-pandemic, we’ve seen several popular brands shut their doors due to financial hardships.

Massive brands like Bed Bath & Beyond and Christmas Tree Shop have disappeared across the U.S., and several chains like Rite Aid, TGI Fridays, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Outback Steakhouse, and Bonefish Grill have closed locations across New York State.

Now it looks like another familiar retailer that was once one of our favorite mall shops will be joining those chains in retail heaven, and we can’t help but feel a little sad to see it go.

The Body Shop Closing Locations Throughout Canada

Rest in peace, The Body Shop

After filing for bankruptcy, the once popular bath and body store has shut down all of their U.S. locations, and will close 33 locations throughout Canada.

The retail chain, known for their natural and cruelty free beauty products, said in a news release that their 105 Canadian locations will remain open, although the announced closures have begun liquidation sales. The Body Shop has also stopped selling their products in both countries online.

The Body Shop brand, located primarily inside of shopping malls, had been declining in recent years due to the popularity of  online shopping. Sales from their website managed to keep the retailer afloat during Covid, however sales began to rapidly decline once things stabilized.

We’ll miss The Body Shop, as the smell of walking past the store has become synonymous with our weekend mall excursions.

Here Are The Body Shop Locations Closing In Canada

According to The Body Shop’s press release, here are the Canadian locations that are currently liquidating and soon will be shutting their doors:
