WNY Native Brian Daboll is From Upstate New York Says NFL TV Crew

It was a good weekend to relax and unwind from watching the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills were on their bye week in week 7, which means Bills Mafia would be watching some of the other teams around the NFL.

The New York Giants are 6-1 after their 23-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Giants start is a shock to most, as it was expected they would be rebuilding this season and instead, now hold the second best record in the NFC and looking ahead to a postseason berth.

Their new head coach is former Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, who also happens to be a Western New York native.

Daboll was born in Ontario but raised in West Seneca. He went to St. Francis High School in Hamburg.

Late in the Giants-Jaguars broadcast, the NFL on FOX play-by-play man Chris Myers was talking about Daboll and mentioned how he was born in Ontario and raised by his grandparents in "Upstate New York."

This gets back to the long talked about "Western" New York vs. "Upstate" New York.

Many in the New York City region consider everything not in the city or Long Island to be "upstate," while pretty much everyone in Buffalo considers this region to be "Western" New York.

If you ask Daboll, he will tell you this is Western New York.

It may sound like a small thing but other than dogging the Bills or Sabres, the one way to get into an argument with a Buffalonian is saying their city is in upstate New York.

Buffalo and West Seneca are about as far west in the state as humanly possible.
