Buffalo Bills Will Feature Both American And Canadian Anthems For The First Time

The Buffalo Bills will have all eyes on them next Thursday night when they take on the Lions at their new home and they'll be doing something they've never done in Highmark Stadium history.

The Bills are taking a page out of the Sabres book for this one. For years, the Sabres have sung both the American and Canadian National anthem before games. The Bills are planning to do the same at their home opener with two different singers.

People might not know the name Auliʻi Cravalho too well, but they've probably heard her voice before. She is the voice of Moana from the 2014 Disney film. And of course, the Barenaked Ladies are a Canadian musical group from the 90's and 2000's with hits like "The Old Apartment," "If I Had $1,000,000," "It's All Been Done," and more. They did so many shows in Buffalo in the 90's that they often joke about this being their second home.

They will feature both anthems in the pregame before the home opener at the new Highmark Stadium.

People are split in the comments about the addition

The comments show two sides of a coin. There are people who are happy about the addition, including multiple season ticket holders who come from Canada for every game. They're glad people can unite at games because of things like this. They also brought up that there are two Canadian-born players on the Bills this year (Joshua Palmer and Michael Hoecht. Three if you count Dalton Kincaid, who has dual citizenship).

But there are also people questioning why the Bills are adding it. They claim that the reason the NHL does it is that there are so many other franchises in the NHL that come from Canada. The Bills aren't playing a Canadian team, so why are they playing their anthem?

The Bills did not comment on whether it will only happen at the home opener or if it would happen at every home game.
