$6 Tolls Starting Immediately on May 1 in New York State

The exchange rate from the American dollar to the Canadian dollar is pretty significant right now and if you are from the United States, your dollar is worth quite a bit more.

The exchange rate is $1 American to $1.43 Canadian this morning.

New York State is in for a really different toll situation in 2025. There have already been toll increases on the east side of New York State.

Standard passenger vehicles will be required to pay $6 and people are not happy about it. Everything is going up. For groceries, concert tickets, raw materials, cars, wood, and so on, the price is increasing.

There are tolls going up all over Western New York on these bridges:

• Rainbow Bridge
• Whirlpool Bridge
• Lewiston Queenston Bridge

Here is how much you are going to be paying for the toll increase in Western New York:

• standard passenger vehicles will be required to pay $6 ($8.50 CAD)
• standard five-axle vehicles will be required to pay $34 ($48.50 CAD)

It is not a record high, but if you are going over across the border for any concerts, stores, or even work, you are in luck because the United States dollar is going to go pretty far. As of today $1 in the United States is worth $1.43 in Canada. That doesn't mean that the prices in Canada don't reflect the exchange, but it certainly is appealing, especially to people who live in the Western New York area and can easily get to Canada within 20 minutes.
