Buffalo, New York prides itself on being the “City of Good Neighbors” - which makes a recent list of the most “neighborly” cities in the United States a punch to our guts.

Neighbor.com, a self-storage company, recently released its list of 2022’s Most Neighborly Cities In America, using public data related to the well-being of a city’s residents, charitable giving, happiness, generosity, and a variety of “other factors.”

Their calculations concluded that a city right here in New York state is the “most neighborly” for 2022, and - GASP - it wasn’t Buffalo.

So which city in New York state is the most neighborly?

Rochester, New York Was Named The Most Neighborly City In America

According to Neighbor.com, Rochester is the most neighborly city in the country in 2022, up a spot from its #2 ranking in 2021. In their survey, Rochester ranked high in neighborly acts (third) volunteering (fourth), and high marks in charitable giving and happiness.

Other cities in New York state that made the cut were Poughkeepsie, New York at #8, and Albany, New York at #23.

So Where’s Buffalo?

Our hometown of  Buffalo, New York - “The City Of Good Neighbors” itself - didn’t even make the list of the most neighborly cities in the United States. What the heck?

Neighbor.com’s explanation of why Rochester was ranked number one makes this glaring absence even more bizarre.

In their description of Rochester on their website, they describe it as being home to Art Park, the only state park in the U.S. that’s dedicated to visual and performing arts.”

Um…no. No, it isn’t.

ARTPARK, one of the most popular music venues in OUR area, is located in Lewiston, New York - which is part of the BUFFALO metro area. Not Rochester.

For shame.

We definitely have a right to feel robbed by this list, but we digress.
