It took 10 games to do it, but the Buffalo Sabres finally sent their fans home happy for a change.

The Sabres got a pair of goals from Cody Hodgson, then extended the Los Angeles Kings to overtime and a shootout, where the Sabres won it. Matt Moulson and Tyler Ennis scored in the shootout, while Ryan Miller stopped both shots he faced in the shootout in a 3-2 victory.

Miller was easily the star of the game, stopping 43 shots, while the Sabres were only able to manage 17 against the Kings. Hodgson's second goal of the game on the power play early in the third period appeared like it would hold up, until the Kings scored late in the third to send the game to overtime. The Sabres were able to kill off parts of two penalties in the extra period to get to the shootout, where they won for the third time this season.

Hodgson said after the game the presence of Steve Ott was one of the factors that allowed him to score twice.

Steve Ott says they battled to stay in it.

The Sabres remain home to host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday night in the first of a home and home series with the Leafs.
