Crucial Change In 2026 To New York State Laws
There is a law that will impact all of the United States in 2026, and parents across New York State should start to plan ahead for it.
When was the last time you took a look at ANY law that pertains to the way you secure your kids in a vehicle? It likely was when you first had kids or when you were about to load a kid in the car for the first time.
But laws seem to evolve often these days, and when it comes to the safety of your kids, some of them are worth noting and being prepared for.

As we travel around the state for summer fun, kids under a certain age are either in a car seat or buckled up in the back seat, depending on how old they are. But for those parents with little ones in a car seat, the new law will go into place in 2026.
ABC News ran a story on its website about the new law and the tests that are required and noted that: "The updated regulation, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 213a, adds a new sled test for child seats simulating a 30 mph side-impact crash involving two vehicles".
Be safe this summer, and for those with kids, I understand the challenges that come with kids in car seats. I have four kids under the age of nine, and the youngest fights me every single day when I put her in a car seat, but it's still the safest way for her to ride in my truck.
