Mistakes, penalties, turnovers and the loss of LeSean McCoy to a head injury on the second play from scrimmage.  The Buffalo Bills have played some poor games this season and Sunday's game at Indianapolis ranks up there among the worst of them.  It was every bit the trainwreck I expected it to be and even more.  One thing I didn't expect is the Bills defense to just melt away facing Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts offense in a 37-5 loss.

Starting his first NFL game in two years, Derek Anderson had a rough afternoon throwing three picks and lost a fumble while Charles Clay also fumbled after a catch.  And the Colts obliged them by scoring 24 points off of those five turnovers.

Anderson finished 20 of 31 passing for 175 yards but the turnovers killed any momentum the Bills had hoped to gain.  The biggest turnover might have come on the drive directly after the Colts had scored the first touchdown of the game when Charles Clay lost the ball at the Indy 26 yard line.  The Bills had driven 49 yards and had a chance to take the lead.  Things unraveled after that.

The big question mark is what happened to the Bills defense which has been so solid the past month.  They looked confused by the Colts offense and later just seemed to quit.

Andrew Luck embarrassed the Bills with a nearly perfect day completing 17 of 23 passes for 156 yards and four touchdowns.  And running back Marlon Mack shredded the Bills defense with 146 yards rushing on 19 carries.

The Bills were the perfect antidote for what was ailing the Colts giving them their first home win of the season.  The Bills meanwhile drop to 2-5 after a tough stretch of five road games out of their first seven games of the season.  And things get even tougher for the Bills with the New England Patriots coming to town next Monday night followed by the Chicago Bears.
