
Country Stars Mourning the Death of Whitney Houston
Add Dolly Parton's name to the list of country stars mourning the death of Whitney Houston over the weekend. Dolly's song "I Will Always Love You" became one of Houston's biggest hits. Dolly issued a statement, "Mine is only one of the millions of hearts broken over the death of Whitney Houston. I will always be grateful and in awe of the wonderful performance she did on my song and I can truly say from the bottom of my heart, 'Whitney, I will always love you.' You will be missed."
Martina McBride, Luke Bryan and LeAnn Rimes expressed their thoughts on Twitter. LeAnn said a Whitney Houston album was the first one she ever bought. She tweeted she "learned how to do what I do because of 3 great women, one being Whitney."
Martina called Houston "one of my singing idols." Luke called her death "heartbreaking."
Sugarland said Whitney had a "A beautiful voice and a talent beyond compare." Rosanne Cash tweeted that a voice like Whitney's is "a major gift to humanity."
