Wegmans said that its stores were among the locations that nurses from the New York State Department of Health conducted their tests yesterday.

Those two local Wegmans were the locations on Amherst Street in Buffalo and Alberta Drive in Amherst.

“We were notified late yesterday morning that the state would like to conduct antibody testing at approximately 20 grocery stores throughout the state of New York today,” Wegmans representative Michele Mehaffy said.

The antibody tests are meant to tell if a person had previously been infected by COVID-19. The information will help the state determine the exact spread of the virus.

100-150 people at each location were tested by five nurses at the scene.

Consent was required for testing. 15 other stores had testing take place but it's not known where those other locations where.
