Cuomo: All SUNY Schools In WNY Will Require Vaccination For In-Person Students
New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo held a press conference on late Monday morning to provide an update on the pandemic and to make an announcement for New York.
Cuomo provided an update on the positivity rate for all the regions in the state. Western New York and the Finger Lakes have the two highest rates in the state. Western New York's is 2.43 percent, while the Finger Lakes is 2.72 percent (the highest in the state).
Governor Cuomo also made a big announcement regarding SUNY and CUNY schools this fall.
Cuomo announced that all SUNY and CUNY schools will require vaccinations in order for students who want to attend in-person classes this fall.
Cuomo also encouraged private colleges to require full vaccinations in order to have students return for in-person learning this fall. He also said more young people have to get vaccinated.
SUNY schools in Western New York include Buffalo State, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Geneseo, Empire State College and University at Buffalo.
It's been a very tough last 15 months for students, faculty and staff at colleges. I can't even imagine how disappointing and frustrating it's been for those wanting to continue in-person learning and those who graduated last year and this year.
