This sounds like something out of a really bad movie, but we kid you not, it’s real.

An 82-year-old woman was pronounced dead at a New York nursing home this week, but she was found just a few hours later, breathing at the funeral home.

This happened on Long Island. According to CBS News, the woman was pronounced dead at Water’s Edge Rehab and Nursing Center at Port Jefferson at 11:15 A.M. on Saturday. Within two hours, she was taken to the O.B. Davis Funeral Homes in Miller Place.

After being at the funeral home for just under 40 minutes, the woman was found breathing.

The woman was transported to the hospital following the discovery.

The woman’s name was never released due to privacy concerns.

Officials at the funeral home released this statement:

"Out of respect for the privacy and confidentiality of the families we are honored to serve, we are not in a position to comment further on this matter."

This incident occurred days after a similar situation happened in Iowa, where a woman at a hospice care facility was mistakenly pronounced dead, only for her to be found gasping for air in a body bag.

The Iowa care home was fined $10,000, according to CBS News.

According to Suffolk County police, the case has been referred to the state attorney general's office for investigation.
