It's pretty much the same old story just another year/month.  Fuel prices are going through the roof.  I have a legitimate complaint now that I am not only an owner of a diesel truck, but, also as a consumer of everyday products and groceries.  I saw this sign at a local station and I found it ironic that the diesel prices are listed in green.  You see the government had been telling us that clean diesel is the way to go. I have even seen a commercial on the Super Bowl for the new BMW turbo-diesel that promotes "clean" running cars.

I just saw a report on .autoguide.com on the President's proposed budget cuts that said "Obama administration still wants to help the electric and hybrid car industry, and their latest move to help move such products is to cut funding for clean-diesel and fuel-cell technology."

Every week we are told something different.  Does the government have a stake in this?  I guarantee it.  If they were truly focused on the clean-diesel issue we wouldn't see prices going up the way they are.  As a matter of fact it would be more fitting for the sign to flash the diesel prices on and off in a bright red color to signal an alert.  Not only are the eco-conscious drivers affected, so to are the truckers.  (most notably) Most of the products are shipped via 18 wheeler or train.  These are typically diesel powered vehicles.  As the cost to ship goes up...yep...so does the cost of the product and that affects every person reading this.

It is my choice to drive a pick up and it was my choice to buy a diesel.  If you know me, I am the kind of guy who when I want something, I work to get it.  Life is short.  I am not posting this as a way to gather sympathy.  Like I said.  Same story, different year.  However, when I saw this sign I laughed out loud. Green huh?  That what seems to be missing from my wallet these days.
