JUST IN: Earthquake Felt Near Buffalo, New York
Did you feel it? The earth is always moving and there are dozens of earthquakes every day around the globe. However, when one happens closer to home, it gets attention. Large or small, here in New York State, we will be talking about an earthquake that happened long after the ground is done shaking.
The last earthquake that really moved Buffalo and Western New York happened a couple of months ago as people were either waking up or driving to work. We were on the air and my coworkers were saying they felt the tremor. I didn't realize it happened as I was moving my chair at that moment.
The other thing that people mentioned about that quake was the sound that it made. Many felt it sounded like a large truck passing by the house. There was an earthquake that occurred this week that was not as large but some did report it.
Living in Western New York we know how to handle snow, rain and warm weather. Some days that string of weather happens in a span of 24 hours. But to us, ANY earthquake is a big talking point. Don't be surprised if this week you hear plenty about this small one.
