The Buffalo Bills announced yesterday that they have exercised the 5th year option on defensive tackle Ed Oliver.
Oliver was the Bills' first-round draft pick in 2019 and was selected 9th overall. So far during his career, Oliver has amassed 117 tackles and 12 sacks.
By exercising the 5th year option, Oliver's cap number will jump from $6 million dollars to $10 million dollars next season, but it gives the Bills another year to work with Oliver to restructure his contract or work on a long-term deal.
The Bills will be looking for a big year from the DT as they are the odds on favorite to win the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl this year.
Oliver will have some new teammates later this week. The Buffalo Bills along with the 31 other NFL teams are getting ready for the NFL draft that will kick off this Thursday at 8 pm. The Bills are picking 25th overall this year but there are lots of rumors of the team either moving up or down in the draft.
With not that many glaring weaknesses on the team, they will have plenty of options to make moves this year in the NFL Draft. Will Ed Oliver have some new teammates next to him on the line, in the backfield, or on the other side of the ball? We will find out on Thursday night and this weekend.
