It's one of those things that comes around every year that is a sure sign of spring and until now, we were told it would be cancelled.  But it's still happening in Eden.

When you think of spring, what do you think of?  Flowers, green grass, and free cones at Dairy Queen right? Unfortunately though, this year, they announced that for the second year in a row they would be cancelling the traditional Free Cone Day to avoid large crowds gathering and to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In a statement, they said:

"As spring approaches, we all look forward to Free Cone Day, an event that attracts long lines at our restaurants. Given the state of COVID-19, we've made the difficult decision to cancel this year's event with your safety and the safety of our crew members in mind,"

It's sad news for a couple reasons.  Of course it's sad because we don't get that free cone, but it is also a huge opportunity to raise money for great causes.

That's why the Dairy Queen in Eden has decided that they will be having Free Cone Day after all.

They made the announcement last evening that they will be having Free Cone Day on March 18th to help raise money for two great causes.  The proceeds will go to Oishei Children's Hospital and the Eden-Lakeshore Boys & Girls Club.

People who come of course will be treated to a free small vanilla cone and are encouraged to make a donation to help out those great causes.
