Buying a house isn't easy.  There are a lot of hoops to jump through.  But if you could get into a fixer-upper, would you?

Ok...hear me out.

There are a lot of houses these days that are move-in ready that sit on the market because they're so expensive.  Then there are houses that could turn out to be diamonds in the rough.  Those houses are the ones that only really make sense for a certain buyer.  If you're not a do-it-yourselfer or someone who has a lot of money to spend on contractors, you're probably going to want to stay far away from them.

While scrolling through Facebook, this house came up on my feed and I couldn't help but think that there has to be someone brave enough to take this on and get the deal of a lifetime.

First, let me describe the house.  It's just over 1600 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.  It was built in 1968 and it sits on a 1-acre lot. There's a 2-car garage and a full basement.  They're asking $198,000.

So why wouldn't you want to take on this house?  It sounds perfect!

To say it needs work is a drastic understatement.  Just about every room needs to be refurbished.  But again, if you're a do-it-yourselfer, you might actually love that about this house.  The biggest concern actually sits in the basement and you can see it in the pictures.  Unfortunately, it has mold.

According to Architectural Digest, most mold remediation costs anywhere between $1000 - $3500 and most pay around $2,230 on average, depending on how widespread the problem is.  When looking at the cost of the house, this is a drop in the bucket.

It's been on the market for almost a year now and you have to believe that the mold probably has something to do with it.  It's definitely not for everyone but does it just need the right person to take it over and deal with the mold?
