The SSG William R Wilson Memorial Foundation was established to honor and remember our hero, ‘Billy’. Billy was killed in action in Afghanistan on March 26, 2012. Our mission is to enhance the lives of youth, service members, other families, and the community while promoting the values of Staff Sergeant William R. Wilson (Billy) lived by. His ultimate sacrifice has led us to honor, share, extend, and embrace Billy’s way of life and his desire to help all those he could. The Foundation will accomplish our mission through donating to students, youth athletics, and veterans, and family services; fundraising throughout the community and partnering with other organizations to accomplish our goals.
SSG William R. Wilson was a true American Hero. A graduate of Williamsville North High School, Billy joined the Army in 2005. He was a truly fearless man, but his courage was countered by his sense of humility, selflessness, and genuinely caring for other people, particularly his family, friends, and brothers in arms. Billy’s death did not make him a hero, but rather, his life.
