On Saturday, June 21 2014 we will be holding the 1st annual WNY Recreational Fishing Derby. The derby
will be held along 9 miles of the Erie Canal from the Niagara river, to 9 Mile Island in Pendleton. Children
and adults of all ages annd skill levels will be fishing in the derby with age categories of under 16 or over 16, method
categories of boat fishing or shore fishing, and fish categories of panfish, bottom feeders, and game fish.
The registration process will determine what age and method category each participant will compete in.
We will be charging a $5.00 entry fee and all money that is received will be put toward the overall cost of
the derby, and the remainder will be put toward 1st place prize money in each of the 12 categories that have
been established making this a completely non-profit, fun event. The derby will be based out of West Canal
Park right on the Erie canal in North Tonawanda. What a great way to spend the first day of Summer with family and friends and it is also opening day of Bass season in NY.
