We got a pretty quiet weather day on Wednesday, but a system works its way into Western New York during the pre-dawn hours of Thursday and with it comes, you guessed it...snow.

WIVB Weather says that rain will switch to widespread snow by Thursday's morning commute and last the majority of the day. Lake effect bands could impact areas east and well south of the city late on Thursday and into Friday.

The temperatures won't be warm enough for it to stick right away but they will get cold enough eventually for accumulation.

Here are the totals you can expect by Friday morning.

  • Buffalo: 1-2 inches
  • Niagara Falls: 1-2 inches
  • Batavia: 2 inches
  • Springville: 2-3 inches
  • Warsaw: 4 inches

I'm actually kind of looking forward to an inch or two of snow in Buffalo. It'll make driving slicker but there's just something about the first significant snowfall of the year.
