How Creepy Was Halloween In Buffalo In 1932?

When I picture Halloween in the old days, I picture it being REALLY creepy.  Long before people watered down the costumes to make sure they weren't too scary...so how creepy was it?

Actually, according to this footage, it wasn't as scary as I would have thought.  While there are a few masks that are a little creepy, for the most part, the costumes are homemade and depicted people like soldiers,clowns and dogs.

It says the footage was from PS74 - Hamlin Park School right here in Buffalo.  Strange to think that many of these boys are probably WW2 vets isn't it?  See anyone you recognize?
