One of many items on my cooking bucket list is to deep fry a turkey. I have tasted deep fried turkey that friends have made and it is really delicious, but I really want to make my own.

One advantage of frying your turkey is the shortened cook time. When you drop that bird into oil that is about 360 degrees, it takes roughly three minutes per pound to cook. So a twenty pound bird will be ready in about one hour. That leaves you more time to prepare all your side dishes like mashed potatoes, gravy, vegatables, cranberry sauce, etc.
