For organizers of any big event, deciding to go forward with plans for 2021 is a waiting game.

Many planned festivals and events for 2021 have already been scrapped -- including Canal Fest, the Allentown Arts Festival, and the Galbani Italian Heritage Festival.

But one group in the southtowns is waiting, for now.

Organizers of the Eden Corn Festival have tentatively planned the annual event for August 5 through August 8, after having canceled last year's event due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It's the shifting and changing advice coming from state government that has organizers hesitant to make any firm plans, as opposed to tentative ones.

Organizers of the Eden Corn Festival took to the event's Facebook page to update the community on its plans (or lack thereof), citing concerns over what the specific guidelines would be that the event would need to plan for.

According to the post, organizers have been in touch with all levels of New York State government, from local on up, to determine what the new guidelines will be, and how to abide.

Eden Corn Festival organizers echoed in the post they are committed to the safety of their participants, guests, vendors, organization members, and volunteers above all else.

Governor Cuomo announced earlier last week that the New York State Fair in Syracuse will be held, after being canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organizers of similar outdoor events like the Erie County Fair and Eden Corn Festival are awaiting word from the state about how to proceed with their events.
