This is one event that I look forward to at the Erie County Fair every year. It's two days of real tradition and real horse power! I  am lucky enough to have the best seat in the house for it. The horse pulls at the Erie County fair are a long standing tradition that  always gives fans a great show! The light weight horse pull was on Monday after noon. That means the team (pair) of horses can't exceed 3325lbs in combined weight. Today (Tuesday) will feature the heavy/open contest in which we will see some seriously huge horses at work! Each team gets three attempts to pull a weight transfer truck a distance of 27' 6 ". The team that pulls the most weight will win! On Monday we had 11 teams and Tuesday should play host to as many or more!

It is incredible to watch these powerful animals at work. Horse Pulling is one of the longest running traditional events at the fair and IT'S FREE!

Here are some photos I snapped on my trip around the fair Monday..the 4H horse show and a calf that was just hours old!
