
BBQ Sauce Could Pose Life-Threatening Risk To New Yorkers
New Yorkers are urged to check their pantries due to a potentially deadly recall. According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America,
"Nine foods cause most food allergy reactions. They are milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, wheat, soy, and sesame. As of 2021, about 20 million people have food allergies in the U.S. - about 16 million (6.2%) U.S. adults have food allergies. About 4 million (5.8%) U.S. children have food allergies."

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Savannah Bee Company is recalling its 16-ounce Honey BBQ Sauce - Mustard (B1L1360525, Best Before 05/16/27 UPC 8 50033 93758 9). There are two undeclared allergens in the BBQ sauce, which could be fatal for someone with allergies. The BBQ sauce at the center of the recall has undeclared wheat and soy in it.
The BBQ sauce was shipped to distribution centers, retail stores, and consumers in New York, and nationwide, between July 30, 205 and February 26, 2025. The bottle of the affected product is clear glass and has an orange Honey BBQ Sauce Mustard Label on it.

A customer notified Savannah Bee Company that Honey BBQ Sauce - Sweet actually displayed the label for “Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard." Consumers should toss the item or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
Thankfully, there have been no reports of injury from use of the product.
