Restaurant Week kicks off Monday in Buffalo, New York

Skip the grocery list; Buffalo Restaurant Week kicks off Monday

Dozens of restaurants in Buffalo and the suburbs will be welcoming new customers and regular patrons alike as Restaurant Week begins Monday.

From April 15-21, restaurants are offering lunch and/or dinner specials at a fixed price, encouraging gourmands to try something new and delicious at a good deal. 

Restaurants Participating in Buffalo Restaurant Week

Among the participating restaurants in this fourth-annual event is the Downtown Bazaar, essentially an international food court on Main Street featuring cuisines reflecting the widespread diversity of the City of Good Neighbors. 

Lunch options at the Bazaar include, for $15, your choice of one drink and one of the following entrees: Smothered carnita chimichanga complete with queso, guacamole and pico de gallo served with rice and beans, or cheese enchiladas in red sauce with shredded cheese, minced onion, beans, and rice. The menu expands considerably for dinner, with a mix-and-match buffet of options from all the Bazaar’s current occupants: Beef halal from Nile River; a BBQ chicken bowl and sisig fried rice from Pinoy Boi; chicken curry or tofu salad from Pattaya Street Food; chicken tibs or a vegetarian combination from Abyssinia Ethiopian Cuisine and sukuma wiki from Nile River. Patrons can select two from the above menu, plus a bottle of wine from Lulu’s Pub, for $45. Oralia is offering a smothered carnia chimichanga or a cheese enchilada in red sauce Thursday through Saturday for dinner for $45 with a bottle of wine and a soft drink.

“What I enjoy about the opportunities that Restaurant Week provides both restaurants and visitors is that it gives them a chance to try new restaurants and try the variations of food that we have,” says Patrick Kaler, president and CEO of Visit Buffalo Niagara, essentially the host and organizer of this year’s event in partnership with the New York State Restaurant Association’s Western New York chapter. “We do have flavors from around the world. I think this helps expose  the restaurant scene and its diversity.”

Other establishments participating in Restaurant Week include local favorites Chef’s, Bacchus Wine Bar & Restaurant, Big Ditch Brewing Company, and Fat Bob’s Smokehouse, along with newer establishments like Sunshine Vegan Eats, Wayland Brewing, and Tiny Thai.
