For the seventh time in his last 14 races at Martinsville Jimmie Johnson comes away the winner. It’s his 8th career victory at Martinsville and with it comes his 8th Martinsville grandfather clock trophy. Johnson also becomes the first driver with multiple wins to go along with his Daytona 500 victory.

Clint Bowyer came in second with Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne and Kyle Busch completing the Top 5.

Danica Patrick did well in her first visit to Martinsville finishing 12th – her best finish since finishing 8th at Daytona.

But a tough day for Dale Earnhardt, Jr., finishing outside the Top 10 for the first time this season. Junior came in 24th, two laps back.

It also cost him the points lead. Jimmie Johnson takes over at the top of the points standings, followed by Brad Keselowski. Earnhardt slips to third.

The season’s first prime time night race is up next – the NRA 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday night.
