There are plenty of great coaches available for teams that need them next  year in the NFL.  But could the perfect hire be working for the Buffalo Bills?

It's kind of the natural cycle of a coach in the NFL.  They start out with a small position and make the most of their opportunities.  Before you know it they see huge success as a coordinator and it catches the eye of a team that is looking for a head coach.  Then it's up to them to show that they can be a success at that level too.

That's where we got our coach.  When Sean McDermott came to the Buffalo Bills he hadn't been a head coach anywhere else in the NFL.  He was a defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers when they signed him on to lead the Buffalo Bills.

It's very bittersweet for a team though to see a guy become one of the brightest minds in the league then suddenly he's swept away for a "bigger" job on another team.  That was the story with Brian Daboll too.  Daboll was a Western New York native who had seen some success on college teams and in the NFL.  He came to the Bills and we saw that offense do things it hadn't done in almost 30 years.  Then he was offered a job in New York and he was gone.  You certainly can't blame someone for taking an opportunity.  We wished him well when he left but it was sad to see him go.

The concern is that Joe Brady has taken an offense that seemed to be struggling and in just a year and a half has made it one of the top offenses in the league with even fewer "big name" players.  How long will it be before another team sees what he's doing and snatches him from the Bills?  As mentioned above, there are bigger names out there.  Bill Belichick and Mike Vrabel are two names that immediately come to mind as veteran coaches who have seen success and are still available for a team that wants them.  But it does seem like teams aren't looking for the veterans anymore.  They want the new guy.  The guy that is taking teams and turning them around.  Someone who is young and will be available for them for years to come.

They're going to want Joe Brady.  Sadly, his success in Buffalo could mean that his time here is limited.
