Josh Allen Lost Focus And It Is The Best Thing I’ve Seen
Every year we get a new version of our favorite teams. There's one thing that's really standing out about this one.
In the beginning of August, everyone was talking about how the Buffalo Bills were going to take a step back this year. They had all but dismantled the team in the spring by cutting a bunch of veteran players. Some left in free agency. Others were traded away. We knew that they were taking a brave step to try something different and it's seemingly working.
The Bills are 11-3 and they wrapped up the division weeks ago. They're in the playoffs already and now they're playing for the best possible seeding to give them the best chance to finally "get over the hump" and win in the playoffs.
So what are they doing differently this year?
One of the biggest things you'll notice that's different with the Buffalo Bills this year is that they appear to just be having fun. They're playing loose and seem to really enjoy just being on the field together doing what they do. It's something special that you don't see on every team.
Josh Allen pointed it out at his Wednesday press conference as he was trying to answer a question and his team mates were throwing around a Nerf football that makes noise. The sound starts almost immediately at the beginning of the press conference and it appears that Josh was trying hard not to break the whole time. Then he finally loses it in the middle of a question.
Allen's backup quarterbacks Mitch Trubisky and Mike White were throwing a football around and it was screaming through the air as Allen was trying to answer serious questions from the press.
He did lose focus for a minute but then added that "We get to have fun here. This is what it's all about."
It's not only fun for them, but it's fun for us to watch too. Tell me you didn't smile when you saw Josh Allen point and wink at someone last week in the Detroit game. It does feel like a chicken or the egg kind of thing. Are they having fun because they're winning? Or are they winning because they're having fun?
The Bills have three more weeks left of the regular season and they're taking on two divisional teams that would love to spoil their run into the playoffs. The Bills will likely have to win all three of their following games and hope for two losses from the Kansas City Chiefs in order to have any hope at the 1 seed in the AFC. Hopefully the fun they're experiencing can continue straight through January.
