Katie Couric Visits Buffalo And Comes Away Impressed

Katie Couric loves Buffalo and she'll tell the world about what she discovered during her visit to the Queen City on Tuesday.  The former co-host of NBC's Today Show and anchor of the CBS Evening News is now working for Yahoo News and is doing a series on cities on the rise.  Buffalo was her first stop.

Buffalo's renaissance is getting global publicity.  Job growth, home sales and millions of dollars in investment in projects including the new Solar City solar-panel factory, the Harbor Center and facilities on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus lead the way.

Couric is doing a series named "Rebuilding America" featuring six cities with Buffalo the first to be spotlighted on January 15th.  Other cities being considered for the series include Detroit, Houston, New Orleans, Oakland and Pittsburgh.

Couric said she "really didn't realize the renaissance that is happening in Buffalo until I started to look into it."  She said "it's nice to tell a positive feel-good story about people coming together and building something pretty unique."
