Sad to see the announcer for the old "Lone Ranger" radio and TV series passed away.  Fred Foy died at his home in Massachusetts at the age of 89.  Nobody could ever match his tone and inflection when he said the words "Hi-Yo Silver!' ... The Lone Ranger!"

Foy had a long career in radio and TV, mainly doing voiceovers.  He started at a Detroit radio station in 1942, won the announcing job for "The Lone Ranger" radio show in 1948 and once even stepped into the starring role when the lead actor came down with laryngitis.  Foy also worked on the old "The Green Hornet" and "Sgt. Preston of the Yukon" radio shows.  Later he became the announcer for "The Dick Cavett Show" on TV.
