There is an ongoing push to eliminate a certain type of driving behavior in New York State and some areas have seen a massive increase in the amount of traffic tickets handed out.

The laws are clear and the signs are posted. However, people are more distracted now than ever and police are watching for those drivers.

Even though the weather has been more like summer than fall, the schools are open and kids are walking and riding backs back and forth to class. It is the school zones that are the biggest concern!

According to some reports, in the Capital Region of New York State, over 17-thousand drivers have already been ticketed for driving too fast near Albany schools.

Albany has made news recently for the speed limit changes that were made in and around school zones.


Just last month, Governor Hochul signed a new law that allows for the changes in New York.

Governor Kathy Hochul today signed a legislative package to enhance street safety, prevent traffic-related fatalities, and crack down on hit-and-run incidents. Two new laws will allow municipalities to reduce speed limits to 25 miles per hour and increase fines for leaving car crash scenes without reporting them.
