Clay, Dale and I had the honor of participating in the National Salute to Veteran Patients at the Buffalo VA last Friday.

Kids and volunteers from around the area make wonderful handmade valentines for the veterans and we get the honor of handing them out to patients currently at the VA. And while the weather was crazy that day the turn out was still great!

Players and Alumni from the Buffalo Bills and UB Bulls were on hand as well as Buster Bison and Sabretooth! Katie Morse, Keith Radford from Channel 7 and the entire AM Buffalo crew came out as well as representatives from Time Warner Cable News.

The floor we visited had both short term and long term patients and each one of them were so gracious and willing to talk with us! We visited one gentleman who was at Iwo Jima, he was the third wave in and was on the boat when the flag was being raised.

He told us he was 90 and we never would have guessed that because his energy was just amazing! We also were able to visit longtime listener Cowboy Jim again! Dale and I were talking about how funny it would be if we were on the floor he was... and wouldn't you know it?!

To be able to spend some more time with him was great for all of us! I highly recommend if you ever get the chance to visit or volunteer you do because spending just a little bit of time with these men and women, you learn so much!

Thanks to the Buffalo VA for always inviting us out and we look forward to out next visit!

VA Western New York Healthcare System brought the good wishes of many WNY Veteran supporters to provide a smile, a small chat, and a Valentines Day card to our Veteran patients. Thank you all !
