It's been frustrating to come to the outer harbor and see construction for so long, but a new update says we might be close to seeing the end of it soon.

For months now, there has been some pretty major construction happening near Wilkeson Pointe on Buffalo's waterfront, but their latest news was that they're planning to open in early July. It's all part of New York State's $300 million restoration plan for the waterfront.

What are they improving on Buffalo's Waterfront?

The project was announced in 2022 to make Wilkeson Pointe the "epicenter of activity on our waterfront." They have been working to add amenities to the area, including a splash pad for kids to cool down and a new restaurant. There is even talk of Buffalo being a port for a Great Lakes cruise line. They started working on it in 2023 with a goal of being done by 2025, and they're nearing the finish line.

New Restaurant Almost Ready to Open On Buffalo Waterfront

In March, it was announced that a new restaurant would be opening as part of the renovations at Wilkeson Pointe called "Perro & Poni." They're owned by the same group that owns "The Dog & Pony Saloon" in South Buffalo. They plan to offer tacos, beach food, and bold Tex-Mex flavors on their menu.

In the latest update on the progress at the waterfront, they said that they're expecting Wilkeson Pointe to open to the public in early July.  The restaurant should be ready soon after once they pass a health inspection, acquire a certificate of occupancy, and have a working kitchen.
