This Popular Baby Supplement Recalled in New York State
A new product recall is something parents in New York State may want to know about, especially if they have infants at home. A product commonly used to help soothe babies experiencing discomfort is being recalled because of alcohol in its ingredients.
If you’ve ever had an infant at home, you know the frustration that first-time parents and even experienced moms and dads can face when a baby just won’t stop crying. It can be exhausting for the entire family when a little one is uncomfortable and seemingly impossible to soothe. Whether it’s gas, pain, or a lack of sleep, those early months of parenthood can be challenging.
Gripe Water Recall: What Parents Need to Know
There are products on the market that parents use in hopes of easing their babies’ discomfort or helping them settle down. One of them is called Gripe Water, which has been used by parents for years in an attempt to soothe fussy infants.
I know we’ve used gripe water in the past, and in some cases, it seemed like magic. With other kids, however, it didn’t seem to make much of a difference.
According to reports, a Gripe Water product is being recalled because of alcohol in its ingredients. Parents should check the official recall announcement carefully to determine whether a product they have at home is affected.
"4 fl oz (approximately 118 mL) amber bottle inside a blue cardboard box. The lot number appears on the bottom of the box and on a side panel of the bottle. An oral syringe is included in the box".
Be sure to verify the product name, manufacturer, lot numbers, and any other identifying information listed in the recall notice. If you believe you have an affected product, follow the recall instructions and consult your child’s pediatrician if you have questions about safe alternatives.
A Reminder for Parents as the Colder Months Approach
As we head into the fall and winter months, families often spend more time indoors. For parents of young children, that can mean plenty of long days and challenging nights.
The good news is that, in my experience as a dad for the past 11 years, the difficult stages of raising children don’t last forever.
Those sleepless nights and moments of frustration can feel as though they’ll never end. But people told us that the days would fly by, and they were right!
If there’s one piece of advice I can offer other parents, it’s to try to appreciate the little moments, even when things get frustrating. It’s not always easy in the moment, especially when everyone is exhausted, but time moves quickly.
Before you know it, your little ones will be growing up, and you’ll find yourself looking back on those early years with a different perspective.
Parenthood comes with plenty of challenges, but those days with little ones at home are precious, too.
