This was a busy summer for bear activity here in New York State. Over the last few months, there have been several reports of bears in more populated areas than before.

But the summer is fading, and it seems that some of the bears have stuck around in the woods in more rural locations in some counties here in New York State.

If you have a trail camera, you may want to take a closer look and see if you have any black bears on your property. The one that walked by this camera appears to be a pretty decent sized animal.

This picture was taken in Cattaraugus County in August. The people in that county in New York State understand that bears are prevalent and know how to live among them. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation reminds people to keep their property less attractive to bears. For example, put away bird feeders and cover garbage cans and totes.
