Niagara River Sturgeon Video Captures Attention

But the fish that has everyone talking wasn’t caught with a rod and reel.

Instead, it was caught on camera. **NOTE: there is NO season for sturgeon fishing in New York State. "Fishing for (including Catch and Release) or possession prohibited".

Check out this video of a good-sized sturgeon that was shared on Facebook by FishLikeMike. The footage offers a rare look at one of New York’s most fascinating fish species in its natural habitat.

According to the New York State DEC: "The lake sturgeon is one of the longest-lived and slowest to mature freshwater fish species. Female lake sturgeon do not reach sexual maturity until 14-23 years old and may live up to 80 years".
