The City of Buffalo has lingo that only locals would understand. That's true of every region but have you ever been to a city that calls its north suburbs the "northtowns" or its southern suburbs the "southtowns"?

Buffalo is divided into three main sections: the city itself, the northtowns and the southtowns.

The northtowns include Tonawanda, North Tonawanda, Clarence, Williamsville, Amherst, Kenmore and Cheektowaga. That includes North Buffalo.

The southtowns include West Seneca, Lackawanna, Hamburg, Orchard Park and Angola.

What I have noticed over the years is that there is a biased towards the northtowns, in terms of the businesses that you will find there, vs. south of the downtown area. One of the restaurant chains that you find only in the northtowns is Domino's.

Domino's pizza might not be a huge favorite to Buffalonians, since this is a heavy local pizzeria city, but it has enough fans to garner 10 locations in Western New York. None of those 10 locations are in the southtowns.

The closest one is on Transit Road in Cheektowaga.

I live in South Buffalo and the Domino's website or app won't deliver to that part of Western New York, as it's deemed too far away.

It's fascinating how there are zero southtowns locations for Domino's, yet a bunch north of Buffalo. The northtowns are usually more dense in businesses and plazas, so having a location or two here would probably do wonders for the bottom line and help families who want an inexpensive pizza option in places like Orchard Park, Hamburg and Lackawanna.
