The Oxford Dictionary "Word of the Year" has been revealed.

"Post-truth" took the top spot over other words such as,"alt-right," "glass cliff" and "adulting." for the 2016 Word the of Year.

The adjective relates to "circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief."

According to the staff at Oxford Dictionaries,  there was a spike in the use of "post-truth" with the presidential election and the Brexit vote in the U.K.
