Radiation at Homes in Western New York, People Outraged
There are some serious concerns as you can imagine of radiation at people's homes in Western New York and at a hearing last night it was a wild scene.
There are quite a few homes specifically in Niagara County that have high levels of radiation and people want action. They are scared. For example apparently there was one family that was not notified for 2 weeks after being assessed that they were in dangerously high radiation areas on their property.
Why is there radiation in the specific area?
The EPA believes that there's radioactive material believed to be tied to historic industrial waste around Niagara County. Authorities have gone in and checked many properties and if they offer relocation for families they will pick up the tab to temporarily relocate while things are mitigated (if they can be).
There was a hearing last night at the Niagara Falls Convention Center hosted by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the US Environmental Protection Agency. It did not go very well and people were storming out of there within the first little bit. People are scared and worried and rightfully so.
If you asked me I would consider that an emergency and you would think that the government would move much much faster than notifying somebody two weeks after taking some readings.
According to the Buffalo News and the video that they posted on social media there were over 200 residents and tons of them left within the first couple of minutes after shouting matches happened at the Niagara falls convention Center
